jargon-free tech news for non-technical people

Sometimes, when you're learning a new technology (for me, podcasting), it helps to go back to the source. So, I was delighted to discover an archive of wax cylinder recordings online.
One of the aesthetics of podcasting is the informality of the nascent medium. Podcasters make mistakes on air, include parentheticals ("Now, where's my browser window?") etc. You can hear the same behaviour on early wax cylinder recordings as self-conscious performers giggle and wonder what to say next.
Listening to the cylinders makes me marvel at how far we've come with recording, and how far we have to go with podcasting.
