Last night I attended a Toronto podcasters meet up organized by futurist and broadcaster Tod Maffin. About 30 of us gathered at a Casey's on Front Street in Toronto and shared gear tips, complaints about the arcane agreements needed to play music on podcasts and split orders of nachos.
I was there because I'm working with a group of very bright volunteers to create a pilot podcast for rabble.ca, a progressive left website for Canadians.
Tod brought us together because today he's pitching the CBC brass on a show, The Feed, which would feature the best of Canadian podcasts. Best of luck, Tod!
Here's what I enjoyed most. I looked around the table and thought, "These are all ordinary folks who, a year ago, would never have been talking about shows, interviews and audiences. Now they all have a voice." Well, I wasn't that articulate, it was more like, "This is so friggin' cool!". And it is. It really is.
