Used iBooks and PowerBooks

September 12, 2005 › Sandy McMurray | comment

I spent some time recently exploring the market for used iBook portable computers. I'm especially interested in the last generation of the clamshell iBook (iBook SE), but my hunt led me to good markets for all kinds of used Macs.

Here are some of the links I bookmarked:

ehMac Classified ads
This is the best of the best. If a good product shows up somewhere else, it's often mentioned here as well.

CraigsList classified ads
This private site has grown to become the world's largest private classified ad system. You can find some excellent bargains here, but the ads are not moderated or policed. Beware of offers that appear too good to be true, especially if the seller insists on a cash transaction down by the docks...

eBay Canada
To save time on eBay, search for what you want, then save the search results as a bookmark you can return to later. Note that you can quickly search just by changing the letters in the eBay address, like so:

iBook with 12 inch screen
http://search.ebay.ca/ibook-12

PowerBook with 12 inch screen
http://search.ebay.ca/powerbook-12

CPUsed (Toronto Mac store)

Computer Systems Centre (Toronto Mac store)
http://www.csctoronto.com/

Carbon Computing (Toronto Mac store)
http://www.carbonation.com

Have you found a good source for used Macs? How about a good source for used Windows computers? Drop me a line and let me know.
